The purpose of this document is to outline the steps to authorisation of a National Training Agency (NTA) by CARICOM to award the Caribbean Vocational Qualification and applies to agencies other that the NTAs of Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados which have already been authorised to issue CVQs.

The Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) is a competencybased qualification. Students must demonstrate competence in reaching CARICOM Approved Occupational Standards developed by practitioners and employers (i.e. the industry experts).

Competency-Based Education Training and Assessment (CBETA) is built on the philosophy that “almost all learners can learn equally well if they receive the kind of instructions they need”.
